This article will walk you through using product components to adjust pricing and specifications for your inventory items. By adding or updating components, you can automatically influence product costs and specifications based on material type or other component details.
You may refer to this video for a step-by-step guide on How to use Product Components to Manage Pricing and Specifications: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weulzN5GoGg
Step 1: Access the Product List Module
Open the left navigation menu.
Expand the Inventory menu option.
Click on the Product List option.
Select the item you want to edit by clicking on its name to open the Product Details section. In this example, we’ll be using a 14K Yellow Diamond Engagement Ring - 1ct Round Cut Yellow Gold 5.
Step 2: Navigate to the Components Section
Once in the Product Details section, go to the Components tab.
Here, you can add or manage components, which will impact the item’s price and physical characteristics.
Step 3: Add a New Component
Click on the Add Component button.
Select the type of component you wish to add. In this example, we’ll be adding a component at the bottom of the list of components that we already currently have.
Important: To have the component's cost factor into the product’s price, make sure the Manual Cost checkbox is unchecked. This allows the system to calculate pricing based on component costs rather than manual input.
Step 4: Update Product Cost
For this example, we’ll update the cost of our CUSHION YELLOW DIAMOND component which is located at the very top of the list.
In the Cost field, update the cost associated with this component. In this example, I’ll be changing the cost to $2000.00.
The updated component will automatically adjust the item’s final pricing to reflect this addition.
Step 5: Save Changes
Once you’ve added and reviewed the new component, click Save in the top-right corner to update the product’s details.
