How to Create a Campaign with a Custom Audience

In this article, we’ll walk through the process of creating a campaign for a custom audience. Use this method if you want to send an email or notification campaign to a specific contact list that has been provided to you.

Step 1: Access the Campaign Audience Section

Since this article assumes you’re already familiar with general campaign creation, we’ll go directly to adjusting the audience.

  1. During the campaign creation process, navigate to the Campaign Audience section.

  1. Click the Add an Audience button to expand the audience selection options.



Step 2: Select the Custom List Option

  1. From the audience options, choose Custom List instead of All Customers.

    • If a custom list has been uploaded before, you may select it here.=

  1. For this example, we’ll upload a new list of contacts.



Step 3: Upload Your Custom List

  1. Click on the Manage Custom Lists button.

  2. In the dialogue menu, you’ll see previously uploaded lists. To add a new one:

    • Click the Add List button.

  1. Select the prepared CSV or Excel file with your audience data. In this example, I’ll be using the file named CU_AUDIENCE.xlsx

    • Ensure that the system has mapped your data accurately, particularly columns like emailfirst name, and last name.

  1. Once verified, click OK.



Step 4: Confirm Custom List Selection

  1. In the Pick Custom List field, select the file you just uploaded.

  2. Press OK to confirm your custom list selection.

    • You will see a member count indicating how many users are included, which serves as a quick check that your data was mapped correctly.



Step 5: Finalize Your Campaign Details

  1. Once you’re satisfied with the audience selection, click Next.

  2. Customize the Subject and Content of your email.

  3. After finalizing, press Save & Close.



Step 6: Launch the Campaign

  1. Your newly created campaign will now appear under the Campaign tab.

  2. To launch it, click the three-dot button on the right and select Run Campaign.
